Paris Cleaners and Laundry began operations as a family owned and operated organization in1903. At that time the company was known as Metropolitan Dry Cleaners and Steam Garment Dying Works. The processing plant and store were located in downtown Kalamazoo. Later the name was changed to Paris Cleaners. In 1956 the business owner Russell Bell relocated the main store and processing facility to the corner of Crosstown and Westnedge. That unique art deco structure with its purple and white paint still exists today. In 1991 Wilbert and Elaine Weidenaar purchased the business. In 2005 their son Bill joined the business, making Paris Cleaners a true family business. During the period from 1991 to present Paris Cleaners has increased its product line to include restoration services. In 2008 a new processing facility was acquired at 1811 Vanderbilt in Portage, Michigan to accommodate increasing volume demands. Paris Cleaners joined FRSTeam (Fabric Restoration Service Team) a national concern that provides restoration and disaster services across the United States, Canada, and parts of Europe. We specialize in garment restoration for individuals and businesses that have been impacted by fire and or water damage. Paris Cleaners has been a full service dry cleaners and launderers continually from 1903 to the present. As such we are one of Michigan’s oldest and continually operating businesses and were recognized by the Michigan Governor and Legislature for this fact in 2003.
